L’Oréal has raised the stakes. No longer is the iconic drug store brand sticking to the basics. Their Kérastase hair care line exudes luxury, above and beyond what the typical drugstore line can offer. I’ve sampled Kérastase in my Birchbox, and was lucky enough to receive this deluxe gift set*.
The Elixir Ultime line of hair care uses key technology rooted in the oléo-complexe:
- Maize Oil: Delivers emollient and anti-oxidant active ingredients for ultimate shine
- Pracaxi Oil: Brings shine, nourishment and deep conditioning to the hair
- Camellia Oil: Helps smooth the hair fiber, resulting in incredible shine
- Argan Oil: Helps restore strength to the hair and protects it from external aggressors
Kérastase Elixir Ultime is a versatile nourishing oil that provides ultimate shine, softness and nourishment for all hair types. The line is silicone and paraben-free as well.
I must say after trying this shampoo and mask combination out – my hair has never felt better! The products smell amazing, and the scent actually stays around for several hours after showering. They detangle gently, leaving hair silky and soft. This particular line works well for all hair types, making my curls look amazing after drying! The only downfall of these products is the hefty price tag. At between $40-$65 – that leaves you with a $100+ haircare regimen, which is just too much for me. While I love, love, love the products – I just can’t justify the price tag! Let me know if you’ve also tried the L’Oréal Kérastase line.

I sampled this on my recent trip to Trader Joe’s and fell in love! The recipe (despite a bit of cooking) couldn’t be more easy. This Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli pairs great with the Alfredo sauce also sold in stores.
According to Trader Joe’s, “The filling is a melodic mélange of pumpkin perfection—sweet pumpkin is slathered with honey and a bit of brown sugar and molasses, then roasted, pureed, and blended with ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. This sweet-savory mixture is stuffed into colorful, square pasta—one side is orange-red like a pumpkin shell, the other side a more muted orange, like the inside of the pumpkin.” YUM!!!
This item was on display with the rest of their pumpkin flavored, seasonal items in the refrigerated case for $3.49. Cooking is extremely easy – just heat up some boiling water and add the ravioli for a few minutes. I also heated up some of the Trader Joe’s Alfredo sauce in a small pan to finish the dish. You could also use a bit of melted butter or a mixture of pumpkin butter and cream. Happy Pumpkin Season!
I recently picked up some shoes for fall from Kohl’s Simply Vera line by Vera Wang. If you haven’t checked out Vera Wang’s line at Kohl’s, what are you waiting for? Seriously, she makes some amazing pieces at a very affordable price for her Kohl’s collection.
She especially makes some great shoes! Unfortunately, there aren’t make Kohl’s stores in the Los Angeles, but I snatched these up while I was home in Indiana few weeks ago. What shoes are you loving for the fall time? I’ve been trying to expand my scope outside of boots…
I needed some black flats, because they are a wardrobe staple and mine were wearing out. Here’s the line about black flats though – I usually end up settling for a subpar variety that I’m usually less than found of. Then, I spotted the absolute perfect pair from Vera! These “Embellished Smoking Flats” were exactly what I wanted. Classy with a twist. They are very comfortable and true to size, but a bit narrow if you have wider feet. These shoes are perfect for work, a night out with friends, or even a wedding (which is what I needed them for!). Shop for this flat now.
Next, I wanted to indulge in the ever popular leather slip on sneaker trend. This black, chic pair immediately grabbed my attention. They were very affordable and are extremely comfy. I liked the textured design for an interesting twist. They are sold out of this pair online, but I found a similar version, “Sport Chic Loafers.” I also saw this leather sneaker in-store, and it was equally chic!
Every fall nail collection is going to need one of these shades! The fall season is all about transitioning from bright, fun shades into more muted, rich shades. You’ve probably seen these shades anywhere from the runway to local bars to grocery stores.
A common misconception is that fall is all about darker shades – NO! Fall is one of the most perfect seasons for nudes. You just have to make sure they’re done well. Steer clear from pinks and whites to focus on grays and browns. Pictured below is Julep’s Debra, Rimmel’s Steel Grey, and Julep’s Annemarie.
If I had to select the most “it” color for fall – it’s definitely a good navy blue. This is my latest favorite from Color Club in Baldwin Blues. Another great favorite for Halloween time is from OPI in Just Spotted the Lizard. Dark or olive greens and navy blues will make any nail look stylish this season.
Fall is all about the deep purple shades. Try to stay away from bright reds as those are more for the Holiday/Winter season. When thinking warm fall colors try a rich purple or deep oxblood. I recently wore this Ciate color in Cabaret and another favorite is from Julep in Coco.
