As we’ve transitioned into winter, my skin has gotten so dry! I don’t normally struggle with dry skin, so I was pretty stumped on how to bring moisture back into my face. I stumbled into LUSH, and found the perfect solution… the Oatifix Fresh Face Mask.
This mask has all natural ingredients, and you actually have to store in your fridge as it keeps only a few weeks it’s so fresh! A small jar is about $7 and provides at least full facial masks. They recommend using the mask once a week for 2-3 weeks to relieve dryness. Let me tell you… this product worked wonders on my skin! I noticed results almost instantly after washing off my first mask. This product is great for sensitive skin, and I’ll definitely be repurchasing. I’d also recommend this product after a sun burn to product moisture relief.
About Oatifix from LUSH… “Few things are more soothing than a big bowl of banana porridge, all sweet and squishy. Did you know the same is true for your skin? Sensitive, dry or irritated faces love Oatifix for its calming oats, softening mashed banana and ground almonds to slough away flaky skin. Keep in mind that dry skin doesn’t just occur in the winter! The sun can be equally harsh, as UV rays penetrate the dermis and heat can leave you feeling tight and dry. Use Oatifix year-round on sensitive, dry skin in need of nourishment to keep it flexible and soft.”
How to Use Oatifix from LUSH… “Cleanse your face and pat dry. Smooth a good dollop of Fresh Face Mask over your entire face, making sure to avoid the eyes and mouth. Leave the mask on for about ten minutes (do not let the mask dry completely). Now is a good time to read the latest LUSH Times!
And finally, wash off with warm water and follow with your favorite toner and moisturizer.”

Mac & Cheese is probably my favorite food! I’ve never really quite mastered my ideal recipe until now! I’ve used the Lemonade cookbook recipe, and must say it is delicious. I particularly like this recipe because it combines “grown-up” flavors as well as childhood favorites.
You can easily cut this recipe in half as well. The recipe calls for baking it towards the end (which I’ll include instructions for), but I actually prefer to skip this step for a creamier version! It takes more like it’s straight from the restaurant that way.
This recipe is great for the winter time as it’s warm, gooey, and creamy. The perfect recipe to make around the holidays for friends & family!
Delicious Homemade Mac & Cheese Lemonade Inspired Recipe
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil, add 1 pound elbow macaroni, and cook for about 10 minutes, until tender but still firm. Drain well and set aside.
- In a deep skillet or pot, melt 4 tbsp unsalted butter over medium heat. Sprinkle in 4 tbsp all-purpose flour to make a roux and cook, stirring constantly, to break up any lumps. Once the roux is smooth, pour in the milk and cook until the mixture is thick, still stirring all the while. Stir in 3 cups of shredded Cheddar cheese a handful at a time, and continue to cook and stir until the cheese melts. Stir in 1/2 cup crumbled blue and 1 cup grated Parmesan cheeses; season with 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 tsp ground black pepper, and 1/2 tsp paprika.
- Add the cooked macaroni and fold to incorporate. Stop here for a creamier version.
- Optional: Transfer the macaroni mixture to a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Sprinkle the top with 1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese. Bake for 30 minutes at 350 degrees F, until hot and bubbly.

If you’re a lipstick junkie like me – you’ve see the Too Faced Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipsticks everywhere around the beauty community! You know at $21 a pop the Too Faced version is not cheap. I don’t own the original Too Faced varieties of the formula, but have sampled it in stores and read plenty of reviews on the product.
I wasn’t even looking for a dupe, when my eyes spotted this gem at a local boutique – LA Girl Glazed Lip Paint. I did a bit of research on the brand and product, and several other well-known bloggers had rave reviews quoting its similarities to Too Faced Melted. It’s also a bit similar to the OCC Lip Tars, which I talked about in another one of my Lipstick Diaries. At only $4 each, it was definitely worth trying.
This liquid lipstick is a perfect mix of lipstick and lip gloss, my personal favorite type of formula. It’s very creamy and non-drying on the lips. I will say the stay power could be longer, but overall has an average lasting length. I picked up the shade “Elude” which is actually very similar to Too Faced’s “Melted Peony”. The “Elude” shade is the perfect pinky nude color, especially for fair skin tones. Although a bit difficult to tell, the shade of this color reminds me of my all-time favorite Mac lipstick, “Hue”. I’ve never found a dupe for this shade!
The Glazed formula has a minty scent. As you can see from the pictures below, the applicator tip is plastic and not sponge tip like the Melted version. The colors are very opaque on the lips, and come in a variety of shades to check out.
Overall, I’m loving this product! I think it’s a unique mix of the Too Faced Melted Lipsticks and OCC Lip Tars. They are a bit more runny than the Melted varieties closer to OCC, and I’d recommend applying with a lip brush for the cleanest look. I picked mine up at a boutique in my local mall, but these are available at a variety of online retailers.
This is my last installment of my first beauty series, the Lipstick Diaries. I hope all my readers enjoyed this beauty series. What do you want to see next?!
If you’re at all like me, then you’re already thinking about the holidays… Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve are all right around the corner! There’s so much happening from parties to dinners to presents! A perfect red lip is the perfect accessory for all occasions around the holiday time. A red lip brings any look together and adds the perfect festive touch.
However, creating the perfect red lip is not easy! Red lips can be messy and high maintenance. I’ve pulled together 3 easy red lips for a variety of tastes. In order to create a long-lasting red lip, you’ll need to properly prep your lips – be sure to exfoliate and lightly moisturize. After you apply your lipstick, blot lightly onto a tissue and top with translucent powder for a long-lasting effect.
Look #1: BOLD! This Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Beso is probably the best lipstick & liner all in one product I’ve ever used. The applicator tip is skinny enough to serve as a liner, and you can fill in the rest of your lips with a more liberal touch. I love this formula because it’s long-lasting, bold, and shiny!
Look #2: Low Maintenance & Natural. Lip stains are the best for anyone who seems to spear lipstick all over their face throughout the night (we’ve all been there!). This Stainaic from the Balm in Beauty Queen is the perfect solution. This shade has a more pinky tint that comes across more natural than a true red shade. This product easily blends into lips, be sure to smooth out with your fingers for a matte, natural look.
Look #3: Classic. This Covergirl Lipperfection formula is one of my all time favorite lipsticks. Every shade is long-lasting and easy to apply. This beautiful red shade is called Seduce. It applies smoothly on the lips and survives anything from pumpkin pie to that New Year’s kiss! It comes across as a very classic red lip that never goes out of style.
