The Journey of A Dress – Diane von Furstenberg

This weekend I finally made my way over to LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) to see the highly anticipated Diane von Furstenberg exhibit. According to LACMA’s blog, “The exhibition, which has traveled to Asia, the Middle East, and South America, is a celebration of the 40th anniversary of the iconic wrap dress. Vintage and contemporary pieces, along with portraits of the designer by artists ranging from Zhang Huan to Helmut Newton, are featured as part of the presentation.”

Overall, I loved the exhibit! It incorporated the history of DVF along with her iconic dress creations. She now has a partnership with Andy Warhol, and several of his paintings were featured in the exhibit. The experience was made up of 4 core parts:  The DVF timeline, Art Salon/Photography, Dress Exhibition by Era, and Shop featuring the “Interactive Wrap Experience” with Instagram. This is a must for any fashion junkie, “Feel like a woman, wear a dress!” – DVF
